Providing relief aid to the needy and less privileged is one of the DAQVAH Charity Foundation’s primary areas of intervention. Feed the Needy (FTN) is an activity that falls under this area of intervention. On the 30th of September, DAQVAH undertook it’s ninth edition of FTN by providing breakfast for over one thousand (1,000) vulnerable pupils in eight (8) primary schools across the country.

The Acting Project Manager Osman Alim Sankoh, said that Project FTN primarily aims to provide breakfast for needy persons including beggars, orphans, street kids, disabled and etc. He added that the foundation has been actively engaged in providing a quarterly feeding to needy people in Freetown; nothing that during this quarter, the FTN targeted four regions to give it a national flavour: North-West, Western Area, South and Bo. “DAQVAH believes that this is also a way of complementing the Government’s efforts towards the free education and school feeding programs,” he concluded.

The acting Headteacher of An-Noor Islamic Pre-Primary School in New London, Mano Koya Waterloo said: “Sometimes our pupils find it very difficult to access food during lunch and so we normally help them personally by providing lunch for them. The FTN Project implementation is so timely.”

Mr Unisa Fofanah, Councillor for Ward 235 in Port Loko District, during the distribution at the SLMB Primary School in Mataska Village, said: “This is the first time I am witnessing such a project implementation,” adding that for years now, the pupils find it very difficult to get access to the type of food that was distributed.
