As the National Quranic Memorization Competition draws near, the Foundation of Islamic Information Sierra Leone (FOISL) Ltd have ended their inter-regional Quranic Memorization Competition in all five regions in Sierra Leone.
The regional competition is geared towards identifying the best Quranic reciters across the country, who will represent their regions in the foundation’s Annual National Quranic Memorization competition expected in Ramadan. The competition targeted students who have memorized 15, 20 & 30 parts of the Quran.
In all regions, 15 people qualified for the National Quranic Memorization Competition with 3 from each region. Habib Jabbie, Abdulai Mahmud Jagitay and Muhammad Mahmud Jagitay from the Eastern Region emerged winners in the 15, 20 And 30 parts of the Quran respectively.
From the North-west region,
Hassan Mohamed Koroma, Yusuf Turay and Mohamed Bhoye Bah topped the list for 15, 20 and 30 parts of the Quran respectively.
Sheku Yakub Kanneh, Idrissa Musa Kanu & Fatmata Satiru Bah emerged winners in the Northern region on the three respective categories.
From the Southern Region, Mahmoud Jalloh emerged winner for 15 parts, Mohamed Sallieu Jalloh for 20 parts and Haja Idrissa Jalloh for 30 parts of the Quran.
In the West Area, Mohamed Adam Jalloh,
Ibrahim Bassun & Chernor Ahmad Umar Jalloh won in the 15, 20 & 30 parts of the Quran respectively.
These fifteen regional winners which includes two females will be competing at the National Quranic Memorization Competition expected in Ramadan this year with the theme from Surah Az-Zukhruf, Verse 44 “And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people.
