IAMTECHIAMTECH MUSLIM JAMMAT SYMPOSIUM
HELP US BUILD OUR MASJID
By Mohamed Taly Jalloh
The IAMTECH Muslim Jammat has conducted their Second Annual Symposium on the 13th July, 2019.

The occasion took place at the European Hall IAMTECH campus attracting visitors from different Islamic organizations.

The symposium gave the Muslim students from the different departments of the college an opportunity to test their knowledge in Islam. The program featured Speeches, Inter-Department Quranic Recitation, Quiz, Poetry and spoken words etc.
Dr. Ishmael Francis Sesay, Director of Academic Affairs IAMTECH, informed the gathering about the contribution of Early Muslim scholars to our secular education. He mentioned scholars like Ibn Al-Haytham and others who contributed to new discoveries in science. Brother Hillal Amin Turay chaired the program. He advised students to maintain their Islamic way of life in and out campus. Let the fish remain fish and the crabs remain crabs, Brother Turay said.
Sheik Salieu Jalloh was the special guest of speaker on the topic “The role of Muslim student on campus”. The abled sheikh call on students to live modest lives by staying away from Haraams. “The way we live our lives is the most effective form of Da’wah” Sheik Salieu said. His second message centered on sharing and helping others in need. He calls on students to spend from the little they have as it have great effect on our wellbeing as a society. Sheik Yusuf, the judge for the Quranic memorization competition of the occasion said it is in doing good deeds that we are to compete.

The president of the IAMTEC Muslim Jamaat, Alhaji Sheku Jalloh, said it is through such programs they reach out to the administration and the general public. Such programs remind students about their responsibilities in seeking Islamic knowledge while studying their various courses. He said their Jamaat collaborate with other groups within campus to help students achieve their best. They council and guide students facing difficulties in life.
One can see that college and university students pay less attention in seeking Islamic knowledge in the midst of campus stress. Mr. Jalloh said they have started a student Lead project to build their first Masjid on campus. They are tasking themselves but they need the help of the general public to help them build the masjid. We call on Muslims and Islamic organizations to help us build our Masjid, the president said.
