On 8th March 2020, another historical Islamic event in addition to the launching of the First Islamic Website in 2017, took place at the prestigious Miatta Conference Hall, Youyi Building, Freetown. The aforesaid is the launching of the First National Islamic Writing Competition, First Islamic Mobile App and First Islamic Online TV in Sierra Leone.
Undoubtedly, the above achievements are indeed welcoming especially at a time when the world at large is trapped in the midst of technological sensitivity. Thus, it’s time for us to start using technologies to effectively propagate Islam. It’s on that basis that Sierra Leone Islamic Web Organization decided to take up such venture to spread Islam through technology.
The launching started with an opening Quranic recitation and it progresses under the umbrella of the Chairperson, Sheikh Ibrahim Bah who asked the judges of the National Islamic Writing Competition to occupy their various seats. The Chief Judge, Dr. Ramadan Jalloh spoke on the essence of writing in Islam and how collectively as judges, they worked to ensure that the deserving participants are certified.Managing Director, Sierra Leone Islamic Web, Abass Ibrahim Kamara gave a brief background about SLIWEB and the activities it undertakes. Dr. Ramadan Jalloh then pronounced the winners of the various categories of which he mentioned as follows:
The book category with the topic”A guide to Islam in Sierra Leone” was won by Abdul Haqq Kargbo. The research category “The plight of Muslim Women with regards discrimination and marginalization in wearing the Hijab in public and private sectors in Sierra Leone” was won by Ma Hawa Bai Kamara. In addition, the story category with the topic “Sincerity is the best policy” was won by Isata Neneh Bah. The article category with the topic”The Importance of Unity in Islam In Sierra Leone” was won by Abdul Karim Thullah. The poem category with the topic “My Responsibility as a Muslim towards my country”. And for the Letter to the First Lady category, the topic is” Explain how modest dressing and wearing Hijab will help to minimize rape in the country”.

The event continues as the CEO of One Deen SL LTD, Mohamed Keita, explained about the benefits of the app, what contains in it, and how to use it. Some of the attendees then gave pledges to show how appreciable they were for the achievements.
In conclusion, the program climaxed with the Introduction of the First Islamic Online Television in Sierra Leone by CEO Keita who unambiguously stated that the purpose of the TV is to further propagate Islam through technology.
