Dr. Chernor Ibrahim Bah Profile


Born in Buedu, Kailahun on the 7th July 1975. He is the son of Haja Isatu  and Alhaji Ahmad Sajor Bah. 

Dr. Ibrahim Bah holds a BA and Higher Diploma in Islamic Theology and  Dawah, and also a Masters and PHD in Islamic Education from the Islamic University in Madina.

EARLY LIFE & EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:


In 1982 he enrolled at the Madrasatul Itihad Primary School in Koindu Town in Kailahun to study Arabic and later English.

He spent only 2 years instead of 7 years with 1st position in Arabic whilst he was attending his Primary Education. He was also given a 2 years special course in English where he graduated with an outstanding performance.

He did his Secondary Education at Madrasatul Itihad (JSS 1 &2) From 1984-1985. He then transferred to the Badrudeen Islamic school in Kenema in 1986, where he did his 10th class(JSS3). In 1993, he  transferred to the Kenema Secondary School in Kenema and attained O’Level.

He then moved to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Tertiary Education at the Islamic University in Madina in 1997.
To be in line with the current trend, Dr Bah is also skilled in Information Technology.

While in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Dr Bah was taught by Dr. Khalid Hazimi, Dr. M. Muktah Shinguiti, Dr. Ruhaili, among other prominent Sheikhs from the Islamic University in Madina. The influence of Shk Ahmad Unisa Bah in Kenema cannot be left unmentioned.

He is a specialist in Islamic Education and Theology.
Dr. Sultan Soudis (Director in Theology, Associate Professor), Dr. Abdul Wahab Aqucel (Aqeeda, Associate Professor), Dr. Yusuf Afifi-(Professor in Education), Dr. Khalid Hazimi (Professor in Education) are among the scholars who have formally recommended his qualifications with excellent grades throughout his studies.

THE TEACHER THAT HAD THE GREATEST IMPACT ON HIM:


Dr. Khalid Hamid Mubarak Al-Hasmie have had the greatest impact on him among his tutors.

HIS BIGGEST OBSTACLE IN LIFE:


He believes that his biggest obstacle in life is to overcome numerous challenges throughout while pursuing Education.

HIS BIGGEST MOMENTS IN LIFE THAT HAS SHAPED HIM TO WHO HE IS TODAY:


The Privilege he was given by Allah to sit with highly successful people in Islam and life in general remained his biggest moments in life. This is because his biggest admiration are the Knowledgeable Scholars.

HIS PHILOSOPHY IN LIFE:


Dr Bah holds the philosophy that “from Allah is the start of everything and it is with Allah everything shall come to an end.”

HIS GREATEST INFLUENCE DURING HIS CHILDHOOD:


His greatest influence has been his Parents.

HIS VISION FOR ISLAM IN SIERRA LEONE IN THE NEXT 5 YEARS:


Dr. Bah believes in the future of Islam in Sierra Leone especially at a time when young people are trying very hard to learn about Islam.

HIS MOTIVATION TO DO WHAT HE DOES:


Sincerity with Allah.


HIS GREATEST TURNING POINT IN LIFE


His turning point in life was at a time when he moved from being that stubborn child and teenager to a completely simple, compliant and docile being.

To persevere and be Sincere for Allah, as perseverance and sincerity in Islam are key to your success.

Dr. is proud of his Islamic Knowledge and Good Character, his kindness and his service to mankind.

ONE THING ABOUT HIM FEW PEOPLE KNOW:


He is Very tolerant, but also frank and upright when it comes to matters of Islam that shouldn’t be compromised or joked with.


HIS FAVOURITE BOOKS:


His favourite books after the Noble Quran are books on Islamic Jurisprudence, Aqeedah and Islamic Education.

HIS HOBBY/FAVOURITE ACTIVITY:


His hobbies are Teaching, Preaching and Peace Making.

HIS NOTABLE STUDENTS:


Dr. Kula, Sheikh Salieu Jalloh, Sheikh Bailor (London) Sheikh Mahdru (London), Sheikh Usman (Belgium), Sheikh Abdullah (New York) and Sheikh Abubakar (France) are his notable students.

NUMBER OF BOOKS HE HAS WRITTEN:


Dr Bah is an author of Four(4) books. He authored “Problems of Islamic Education in West Africa”, “The Chapter of Zumar and its educational Concepts”, “Islamic Characters and its Educational Implications” and the book titled “Bad Character and low Iman and how to correct it”. He has also authored many articles.

CHALLENGES FACED WHEN HE WAS SEEKING ISLAMIC EDUCATION:


Lack of Incentives from some of his family members to pursue his Islamic Education. But this didn’t kill his determination to learn.

DAWAH ACTIVITIES:


He has over 30 years experience in dawah and outreach activities which include: Preaching, Lecturing, Mentorship and Tutoring, Khatib, Hajj Guide, Counselling, Peace Making and Humanitarian Services.


OTHER COUNTRIES HE HAS TRAVELLED FOR DAWAH PURPOSES:


Apart from Saudi Arabia where he spent most part of his early life, Dr Chernor Ibrahim Bah has travelled to France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland, Holland, Spain, Ivory Cost, Liberia & Guinea for Dawah and outreach.


HIS GREATEST CONTRIBUTIONS TOWARDS THE PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ISLAM IN SIERRA LEONE:


He has contributed in the  promotion and development of Islam through the Building of Masjids (Under Al Huda Foundation), Digging Boreholes, Supporting Orphans and by Assisting youth Organizations in implementing their activities. Dr Bah also contributed greatly in the development of the Arabic Curriculum at the Fourah Bay College (University of Sierra Leone)


HIS CURRENT WORK:

He is currently a Senior Staff of the Al-Huda Foundation for development and Humanitarian Services who have been building Masjids, digging boreholes, promoting education and many others. He is the Deputy Education Secretary and Director of Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Islamic Center for Education, Dawah and Research and also Senior Member of the Sierra Leone Hajj Committee.

Dr Chernor Ibrahim Bah is a leader, scholar, mentor and a role Model. He is happily married to Haja Izatu Bah.
